What is up people! BlackStar here and welcome to the Thursday...thing. Sorry I wasn't on for the past few days. (I seriously need something to talk about on Tuesday and Wednesday. Any ideas?) Anyway, seeing that the schedule changed (because of me), I have decided to rant on Thursdays about various topics. (Again, any ideas? Leave it in the comments please :3.) Today, I'll be talking about something that is effecting millions of children world wide. That's right! STUDY HABITS. More like school in general. It's a new school year, and everyone is doing their best to get through school. But it's not only taking a toll on the students, but on the parents as well. There are parents that are ever so supportive of their child(ren) and want them to succeed, and that's a good thing! But then there are the parents who go COMPLETELY OVERBOARD WITH SCHOOL WORK. Allow me to explain a bit. You see, I have a younger sibling who just entered the first grade and her teacher gave her a copy of two hundred words that my sibling should be able to read by the end of the school year. Like, the entire year. Enough time to learn two hundred words. Keep that in mind. Now then, my sister brings the list home and my mother reads it over and helps them out. My sibling wrote down ten words, because that's what they were studying that week. But NO. Mother made her write out ALL 200 OF THEM. Oh, and spell them too.
Now, when studying, the parent is suppose to positively motivate the student to do better. Like "Yay you got it right!" or "Well, you didn't spell it right. But we'll work on it, okay?". Then there's MOTHER, whose more like "Spell the word right or we'll be here all night until you do so!" I, being the annoyingly passive person I am, couldn't even stop this, and I feel bad about that. MOTHER was literally striking FEAR into my younger sibling, with threats of making her stand in one spot for nearly an hour, spelling words. There was even one time when MOTHER said that she would beat my younger sibling if they didn't stop crying. Okay, first off, my sibling was crying because my mother was saying some very hurtful things. Of course they're going to cry more because of that THREAT hanging over their head now. It's insane. See,
WHEN I HELP THEM STUDY, IT'S LIKE THIS
See what I mean? Seriously, people need to calm the heck down just a bit! The school year just started, but no where down the line does it have to become THIS SERIOUS OF A THING. I'm just saying, let your kids study, but allow some free time as well. That's all I have to say to you, because its your mind and I can't change how messed up it is already. I'll see you guys tomorrow. This is BlackStar, logging off!
