What is up people! BlackStar here and welcome to the all new BlackStar FRIDAY Anime Review! It's pretty good that I moved the review to Friday then having it on Thursdays, seeing that this would be a good way to end the weekend. Also, I'll be doing this SOLO today, so don't expect anyone just popping in. Anyways, this week, I'll be doing an anime so very strange and complicated that I'll have to split it into two parts in order to fully analyze it. I have to kinda fully explain the anime, so expect spoilers!
This week, I will be review Nazo No Kanojo X, also known as Mysterious Girlfriend X. This is a Slice Of Life Anime with a good amount of romance, but in it's own unique way. Let's just get started, shall we?
Now then, the two see each other every day for about a week, but never really interact until the day the most disturbing thing ever happens. One day, after Tsubaki forgot a textbook, he goes back to his classroom only to find Urabe asleep at her desk. She wakes her up and she leaves, leaving a small pool of her drool on her desk. This is where the show gets, well...
YEAH....and, unbelievably, this is where the story actually starts to gain plot and structure. You see, this was the same moment that Tsubaki fell in love with Urabe, and then there's the drool factor, which is important to the plot as well as ALL OF THE CHARACTERS AS A WHOLE.
So, three days after tasting said "drool", Tsubaki becomes very sick and has to stay home, but this type of sickness goes on for two weeks and starts to get worse and worse each passing day. Finally Urabe comes over (claiming to bring him homework) to explain everything to Urabe. Apparently, she knows that he fell in love with her, for she had fallen in love with him. Urabe claims that the first day she saw him, a voice whispered in her ear and said that he was going to be her first "sexual partner"...
SO, pretty much, Tsubaki, by tasting her drool, formed a bond between the two. If he doesn't have a (somewhat) daily dose of it, he'll undergo withdrawal symptoms. Not regular ones either. More like If he doesn't have it, his body start to have a fever and start to overheat until he eventually DIES. It's not a stroll through the park for Urabe either. If she doesn't give him her drool, it starts to build up like and over boiling pot and starts spewing out. And (I get this from the Uncut Japanese version) if it continues like this, she'll eventually overfill and won't be able to release enough out, causing her to burst like a drool filled water balloon. It's pretty much a life or death type of situation. It's come close to happening once in the anime already.
No drool equals one burning from the inside out while the other one literally explodes like an overstuffed Barbie Doll. Now, why does this happen? Is it some kind of scientific thing or magic?
NOBODY KNOWS! 8D
We are literally never told throughout the entire length of the series. Not a single explanation. NONE. AT. ALL.
But around episode 7 of the anime, the relationship starts to actually take a turn for the better. That is, until another girl walks into Tsubaki's life that makes him have to choose his own feelings. But hey, we'll have to save that for next time!
UNTIL THEN PEOPLE
And I will see you all tomorrow! This is BlackStar, logging off!
