What is up people! BlackStar here and welcome to this week's Game Theory, featuring your host BlackStar, along with partners in crime Gatsby and Axum Haslyn!
(Good job on the intro.)
(I agree. You never open a post like that.)
(Is it a crime to try something new every once in a while?)
(No. Not at all. Continue, please.)
(Fine. Maybe I will.) First thing off, before we start, everyone please pay attention to the picture to the left. It has nothing to do with the entire Game Theory, but I like it because it has it do with Lego, which every one loves. I mean look! It's the freaking Legend of Zelda made in a Lego art style! It's awesome!
This is why we let you fanboy over this stuff.
I DO NOT FANBOY!
ANYWAY, this week we'll be analyze a Game Theory that I actually picked out! That's right, me! I picked it out with my own two hands people!
(You didn't pick it out! You've been refusing to give me back my DS for the past week and a half!)
(Shut it before I shut it for you! It was my idea and you two agreed to it.)
(Correction: Gatsby agreed to it. I just needed something to put up for today. Get your facts straight Axum.)
(Can we just get on with it?)
This week's Game Theory was born from the ridiculous flames of Mario & Luigi: Dream Team for the Nintendo 3DS and this will possibly be the only time that we have a Mario game related Game Theory without focusing it on the red cap crusader himself!
This time, we'll be orbiting around his younger and disappointingly unrecognized brother Luigi and his major role in his game. For once in Mario's life, Mario can go on an adventure alone with his brother NEEDING TO BE THERE.
(See? This is why I hate Mario. He's a heartless bastard.) More importantly, we'll be focusing on the dream aspect of the game and how they're more then just dreams! And the conclusion may make you rethink Luigi all over again.
So, may we get started?
Yes. Yes we shall.
But first, a quick run down of the game itself. In the game, What was suppose to be a peaceful vacation to an island of dreams, Mario and Luigi must save the island from Bowser (again) and an evil being known only as Antasma who draws his power from the nightmares (which he causes) of the inhabitants. Of course, being the RPG of a a game that it is, Mario and Luigi must fight through waves and waves of enemies using attacks that they NEVER USED BEFORE such as...
A majority of the gameplay is inside of the dreams of Luigi. These dreams are a sandbox kind of game in a way. The worlds her dreams of are full of endless possibility, where all of Luigi's wildest dreams can literally come alive.
And BAM! This is where the Game Theory fully begins to light the candle of our interest! Shall we explain? Or better yet me?
You see, there is an area in Luigi's dream world known as DREAM'S DEEP where all of Luigi's inner desires and intentions are expressed to the player. Phrases like "Wait Big Bro!" and "Don't forget me!" can be heard. This is Luigi wanting his brother to succeed.
Think about it. When you lose a battle, you're revived to give it a second chance. An easier chance if you will. He wants you to win, so he is manipulating the game for you to win. He's breaking the forth wall!
Yes! And to think that we all doubted him before. Of course, we've only scraped the surface of this theory because it holds a darker meaning. A much darker meaning then that.
And what exactly is that meaning? Well...We'll have to save it because we are outta time people! So, see you next week to see the end of this theory and I will see you tomorrow for Social Network Tuesday! This is BlackStar, logging off!
This is Gatsby, wishing you all a fine afternoon.
And this is Axum. Peace Mother F**kers!
